Launch of the “Khat” Initiative to Support Women and Girls

On Friday, June 19, the Khat initiative, one of the youth-led initiatives emerging from the Youth Connect Program, was officially launched. The initiative aims to provide a safe and supportive environment that empowers women and girls by strengthening their self-confidence, promoting their physical and mental well-being, and helping them develop their skills. The initiative combines sports activities, self-defense training, and psychosocial support within a safe and encouraging environment that enables participants to discover their potential and strengthen their role in the community. The initiative was implemented with the facilitation, coordination, and support of the Local Authority of Al-Mualla District, in partnership and coordination with Fatayat Al-Mualla and the management of Shamsan Club, reflecting the importance of collaboration between local institutions and youth-led initiatives in creating more inclusive and supportive spaces for women and girls. The launch of Khat marks an important step toward expanding safe spaces dedicated to women, reinforcing the idea that empowerment begins with creating an environment where confidence, skills, and well-being can grow. The initiative is one of the outcomes of the Youth Connect Program, which empowers young people to design and implement sustainable community initiatives while strengthening their role in leading positive change.
