Launch of the “Tirhal” Initiative to Promote Yemen’s Cultural and Tourism Identity
On Saturday, June 20, the Tirhal initiative, one of the youth-led initiatives emerging from the Youth Connect Program, was officially launched. The initiative aims to promote Yemen’s cultural and tourism identity by presenting local heritage through an innovative approach that combines authenticity with creativity. The initiative is built around a mobile cart showcasing products inspired by Yemeni heritage, creating opportunities to support and empower women, youth, and home-based producers while highlighting their creativity and products to the wider community and visitors. It also seeks to reconnect younger generations with their cultural heritage through modern and sustainable approaches that celebrate local identity and contribute to supporting local production and traditional craftsmanship. The launch of Tirhal represents another step in demonstrating how youth-led initiatives can preserve cultural heritage while creating meaningful and sustainable community impact through innovative ideas. The initiative is one of the outcomes of the Youth Connect Program, which empowers young people to design and implement sustainable community initiatives while strengthening their role in leading positive change. This activity is part of the Youth Connect Program, implemented by Medalah Foundation in partnership with the British Council.
