SMEPS and Medalah Launch Program to Support Entrepreneurs in Yemen
04 June 2024Aden, Yemen: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEPS) and Medalah Foundation have signed a cooperation agreement to provide support to entrepreneurs in Yemen through the "SANDBOX" business incubator. This cooperation aims to strengthen the resilience of young people in the face of crises and enable them to start their own businesses.
Within the framework of this cooperation, SMEPS organized an introductory meeting for a group of graduates and participants of the SANDBOX business incubator on the Complementary Support Project to Enhance Social Protection in Yemen and Respond to Covid-19, Entrepreneurship Component.
This component aims to:
- Strengthen the resilience of young people to overcome shocks.
- Empower them to start their own businesses.
During the meeting, the project manager, Maryam Samir, reviewed the components and objectives of the program with the SandBox participants.
This meeting comes after the conclusion of Medalah Foundation, with funding from the French organization Supernova, the first phase of the Entrepreneurship Program, which lasted for six months and targeted 50 entrepreneurs through training, consultations, providing a work environment, and financing a group of projects through the DEMO DAY event held last week in the Legislative Council in Crater, Aden.
Through this cooperation, SMEPS and Medalah Foundation seek to:
- Support Yemeni entrepreneurs in starting and developing their businesses.
- Contribute to creating new job opportunities.
- Strengthen the Yemeni economy.
